EPA Network Policy Briefing on ex-ante assessments for climate adaptation

June 2025: Based on the findings of the technical paper (see above), this EPA network guidance note entitled “Ex-ante assessments of policies to promote successful adaptation to climate change and limit maladaptation” explains ex-ante analyses as proactive policy tools for successful adaptation to climate change and for avoiding maladaptation. It contains concrete criteria, lessons learned from national case studies. It also proposes the development of common European guidelines by the European Commission. It has been submitted to Commissioner for Climate Action, Wopke Hoekstra.
