The report holds a comprehensive literature review on the non-exhaust PM emission from transport. All types of wear particles are considered (brake, tyre, road surface) and all modes (road, rail, aviation), with strong emphasis on road. The report serves as an input to review current emission inventories, summarizing the current emission estimates, the estimation methodologies, uncertainties and future trends, briefly zooming in on the relevance of electric vehicles. The report considers both air quality as well as the relevance of non-exhaust emission as a source of microplastics. To conclude, the report includes a brief overview of technological and policy options to reduce the environmental impact.

This report presents European air quality maps for 2018, as well as the relevant exposure estimates for health related and vegetation related indicators. It also summarizes exposure estimates in the period 2005-2018. The report provides and documents background materials (maps, exposure estimates) for the European Environment Agency’s Air Quality in Europe – 2020 report.
The report examines potential use of modelling outputs from the Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service (CAMS) in the air quality annual spatial interpolation mapping. Specifically, CAMS Ensemble Interim Reanalysis and CAMS Ensemble Forecast modelling results have been examined, based on 2017 data.
The European network of regulatory air quality monitoring stations is now dense enough to explore long term terms. We combine the Airbase data base for the years 2000 to 2012 and AQ e-reporting after 2013. Trends are computed for SO2, NO2, O3, PM10 and PM2.5, including various metrics and indicators. Quantitative information if provided for the evolution of all these compounds and, when relevant, put in perspective with the trend in air pollutant emissions.
